Diffusing to kill germs!

There is an aromatherapy legend from the middle ages about the power of essential oils in fighting disease.

Back then, glove makers would impregnate the gloves they made with essential oils to ward off the Bubonic Plague, using lavender, lemon, rosemary, eucalyptus along with other oils. The legend goes that some traders and some glove makers got together and made a concoction of these powerful plant extracts and dried herbs that protected them from the Bubonic Plague.  They used the concoction on themselves and then stole from the victims of the plague; taking riches from dead bodies and the gravely ill.  When these thieves were finally caught, legend says they gave their recipe in exchange for a more lenient punishment.

The name Thieves Oil has been trademarked by a multilevel marketing company called Young Living but a wide variety of oils can be combined in a therapeutic way to help kill germs.  Here is a link to a wonderful herbal company that gives a recipe for their version of thieves oil. http://mountainroseblog.com/thieves-oil/

I can also create a variety of products for you that help fight off germs and sickness.  In my own home I use a spray to spritz the oils into the air and keep the air fresh.  We have one for the car as well.  I bring a roll-on with me wherever I go, mostly for the essential oil’s soothing properties, but many of the oils have multiple uses,  Oils like Frankincense, Lavender and Green Mandarin can be soothing, smell delicious and also be antiseptic as well.

Another wonderful way to spread essential oils around your home or work is diffusers.  Just put a few drops of an oil in the diffuser and it spreads the scent and the germ-fighting around the room.  Below are a wide variety of diffusers I found online that could be used to get the aromatic and therapeutic benefits of aromatherapy to be a simple part of your life.

I love my Himalayan salt aromatherapy lamp and the glow it casts. (Although I purchased all my diffusers from sources that are no longer available. I thought these links would give you an idea of how different diffusers work and how easy it can be to use essential oils for health and happiness!)

If you want to enjoy some essential oil products, give me a call or order up some of your own.  As I wrote in the previous newsletters, finding a good source for essential oils can be a bit tricky. The oils that come from the companies below are amazing! These are all smaller businesses that focus on the quality of the oils.  I don’t get a kick-back from these folks; I just wanted to give you their names so you can have access to their wonderful and (relatively) affordable products.
