Flowers of Early Spring

Hi there,
Hope you are having a good week.
I found my first spring flower blooming outside! This Coltsfoot was blooming on our local hike this weekend. It always looks a bit bedraggled because the flower comes up before the leaves. They look like dandelions but no leaves, no green and they grow only in marshy wet places.
The woolly leaves are pretty and soft and are in the shape of a small colt’s foot (hence the name)  They’ve been used to soothe coughs in both European and Chinese herbalism. I just love to see the flowers as a first bright color in the drab marshes of spring.
A beautiful Easter Lily blooming inside. Such a sweet bright smell! Another lovely plant with no extractable essential oil. So, another flower to smell as much as possible when you’ve got the bloom!
Best,
Katherine
