The Tapping Points

One of the questions I get ask most frequently is

“Where do I tap, again?  I forget.”

People have seen the videos, been to a class or read about tapping but they can’t really remember where to tap.  (Tapping is a technique to stimulate the acupuncture meridians and soothe the nervous system. It is great for releasing stress, almost like hitting a re-set button, It can quickly calm the nervous system and decrease the release of stress-hormones.)

A friend just told me she was so overwhelmed by her children fighting at the dinner table that she just started to tap anywhere on her face, hoping it would help. (Maybe it distracted the children :))
So, here are the spots in photo format. I thought this might help people remember.
Gently tap on these spots while thinking of the stressful/difficult thing. (You can also use tapping for positive things, but we’ll talk about that another day.)

Here is a starting spot, right on the top of the head.
4-5 taps (or more) then to the next spot

The beginning of the eyebrow on the bone

Then off the the outer eye, not the temple. Right on the bone next to the eye.

Then under the eye. Directly below the pupil on the bone below the eye.
If you run through them on yourself now while you’re looking at this it might help you remember.

Also, when I first started tapping I would remember by starting at the top of the head (pretty easy to remember) and then I just circled around the eye; then I was rolling.

The next one is pretty easy, just above the lip.

Then in the crease between chin and bottom lip

See, those are pretty simple to remember!
Then down to the collarbone, which can be  a spot you can sort of sneak in public without people really noticing.

I’ve been using tapping alot lately. It’s such a busy time of year. I’ve been working at the hospital more than usual and it seems like kids are at sports every day and everything is rushed and harried. Tapping has been helping me tremendously and I want you to be able to use it in challenging times, too.

We’re almost done.
The last one is the monkey spot under your arm, where the bra strap is on a woman.  This one is great when I’m driving and trying to breathe deeply and stay calm.

The general idea is to tap all the points in order, BUT it is a very flexible and forgiving technique so you can just stay on one point if that’s working for you.

There, hope that helps!
